Application window

Applicants apply online, or may stop by the JATC to apply between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm Monday to Friday. There is a test fee of $25; there are no tuition or registration fees. Applicants documenting a minimum of 2,000 hours specifically in the electrical construction industry, and military veterans providing a DD-214 with a separation date within the last 5 years, apply under a shortened process.

Testing frequency

Aptitude tests are scheduled as needed. Plan on spending approximately 3 hours at the JATC Training Center on your scheduled test day. If you completed the computer-based version you receive an email within 2 business days; if you completed the paper version, results can take several weeks. Late arrivals are not permitted into the test, though you may be given a one-time exception to test later.

Score threshold

Applicants are notified of their test results. If your score qualifies for our JATC, you move to the next step: the oral interview. No numeric cut score is published.

Retake wait

An applicant who does not pass the test may apply to re-test after 3 months have elapsed.
