A $25.00 fee applies. Veterans honorably discharged within 5 years, and applicants with 2,000+ hours with an electrical contractor, may be exempt from testing.
Testing frequency
There are 33 questions on Algebra and Functions with 46 minutes, and 36 questions on Reading Comprehension with 51 minutes. It takes approximately 2–4 weeks to get the results.
Score threshold
The test is graded with a score from 1 through 9, with 9 being the highest. You must achieve a score of at least 4 to qualify for an interview.
Retake wait
If you do not achieve a qualifying score, you must wait 6 months to retake the test.
