Application window

You may complete an application form in person at the JATC or begin the online application process. Start by filling out a short form to reserve your date to complete the application process at the JATC. Minimum requirements can be waived if you have been working in the electrical construction industry and meet specific work hour requirements.

Testing frequency

The test battery consists of two tests and takes approximately two and a half hours to complete, with short breaks in between. Approximately two to four weeks after you take the test battery, your local JATC will receive the results. Plan on spending approximately 3 hours at the test center. Bring a photo ID — no ID, no test, no exceptions. Do not bring a calculator. Children will not be allowed at the test center.

Score threshold

You will be informed whether or not you have received a qualifying score. Exact scores are not provided.

Retake wait

This JATC publishes two different windows on the same site. Its FAQ says: 'Yes, you may take the test battery again after a period of six (6) months has elapsed from your most recent test date. WILLFUL ATTEMPTS TO VIOLATE THIS RULE MAY RESULT IN PERMANENT DISQUALIFICATION.' Its Test Preparation Reminders instead say: 'Do not attempt to retake the test battery for three (3) months after your last test date.' Confirm which applies before you rely on either.
